The American Chemical Society (ACS), the SENCER Centers of Innovation Southwest and South, and Bellhaven University welcome you to Jackson, Mississippi and to our symposium with a theme of STEM Education in Mississippi: Issues and Innovations. Throughout a full-day of activities, we will focus on use of innovative and proven pedagogy to reduce barriers to learning, student success, and retention. Presenters include educators and administrators from throughout the country.

Bruce Reid is a communications professional with 35 years of experience focusing on wildlife habitat restoration and protection, ecosystem-scale conservation projects, and wildlife management.  He works with a variety of organizations in Mississippi and the Lower Mississippi River region to address state, regional and national conservation challenges, including endangered species and fisheries management in the Mississippi River, the loss of bottomland hardwood forests and wetlands, aquatic invasive species control, and floodplain management. His clients include the Lower Mississippi River Conservation Committee, the Mississippi River Trust, Wildlife Mississippi and the U.S. Army Engineer Research and De-velopment Center. His skills include writing, editing, grant writing, photography, videography and web design. Previously, Bruce held several positions with the National Audubon Society, including Lower Mississippi River Program Director, and he worked as a writer for daily newspapers in Maryland, Mississippi and Virginia. He has received numerous writing awards, including two nominations for the Pulitzer Prize in Journalism.
