The American Chemical Society (ACS), the SENCER Centers of Innovation Southwest and South, and Bellhaven University welcome you to Jackson, Mississippi and to our symposium with a theme of STEM Education in Mississippi: Issues and Innovations. Throughout a full-day of activities, we will focus on use of innovative and proven pedagogy to reduce barriers to learning, student success, and retention. Presenters include educators and administrators from throughout the country.

Michael May is an analytical chemist with a mastery for technology implementation and generating high rates of ROI (returns on investment).  Michael born and raised in New Orleans, LA always presented an appreciation for math and the sciences where he was valedictorian for both the Primary and Middle Schools he attended. He graduated from the University of New Orleans with a Batchelor of Science in chemistry in 1994 after which began his professional career in aviation systems failure prediction testing operating as the company's chief chemist growing that company's sales force from 5 people to 35 individual sales representatives. Michael went on to pursue a career in petrochemical & crude oil refining where he was promoted 3 times within one year up to senior chemist.

Currently his full time position is a Shimadzu Scientific Instruments accounts manager is where he places the most advance technology in Educational Institutions, Municipalities, and Industrial sector and government research facilities.  Michael’s latest project is where he cofounded & operates as CFO for Khatalyst Labs, a company the strives to be a beacon in the analytical chemistry testing community with a charitable goal of empowering every student, intern or understudy which joins any of our pilot programs to have confidence as they seek solutions through the challenges of today’s analytical techniques & applications. He is also an active member of the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) and ACS (American Chemical Society) organizations.
