Timothy Ward is Professor of Chemistry, Associate Dean of Sciences at Millsaps College and holds the Berry Family Endowed Chair in Science. He received his B.S. degree (ACS certified) from the University of Florida and his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Texas Tech University. After working several years at Syntex Pharmaceuticals as lab manager in their process control division, he joined the faculty at Millsaps College in 1990. He has been recognized with the Outstanding Contributions to Science Award, Mississippi Academy of Sciences, 2002, Chemist of the Year by the Mississippi Section of the American Chemical Society, 2001, HEADWAE (Higher Education Appreciation Day-Working for Academic Excellence), awarded by Mississippi State Legislature, 2000, and the Distinguished Professor Award, Millsaps College, 1999. Dr. Ward serves as Director of the W.M. Keck Center for Instrumental and Biochemical Comparative Archaeology where his research interests include chemical analysis of archeological artifacts, and community outreach and chemical education. He has approximately 50 publications in scholarly journals and over 100 research presentations many with undergraduate co-authors.
